Keep in mind that this isn’t being posted on DMS channels it’s being posted on the public internet. It’s being posted to the public with comments turned off, and not sent to the membership in the attempt to discredit DMS.
In just the past 7 days the board and it’s officers have done the following for DMS:
Negotiated with the landlord for repair and upgrade of our AC systems
Procured server room and blacksmithing AC
Secured estimates for the Ceramics/Glass/Jewelry ventilation
Processed all of our monthly bills for operations
Assisted members with technical difficulties related to bugs that emerged when we reopened
Trained members on multiple machines
Responded to 3d Fab requests and service Max has yet to address
Assisted members with renewals
Escorted a banned friend of the Blue Tape Crew (John Thummel) off of the premises when he was trespassing.
Continued to monitor the security cameras to keep tabs on the Ricky Box situation.
Procured supplies for Ceramics
Assisted two new committee chairs in getting started as chair
Published a guide to help new chairs with their jobs.
In those same 7 days The Blue Tape Crew has not had time to answer the 50 questions posted for them by the membership here on talk. Instead they have one person chat about it on a video they didn’t share with the membership. The committee chairs among them haven’t had time to help the membership with anything let alone requests within their committee. But they have had time to make two campaign videos to trash the makerspace that they aren’t even sharing to the entire membership of the space…
Here is their one contribution to the space during that time:
The digital media area was cleaned and made ready for reopening.
Three Weeks after we actually reopened!
Here are their unanswered questions as of 7/4/2020 at 8:35 AM for reference.
It does not appear that Luke has a thread on talk for these questions, but he was on the call so he knows they exist.
That is your Blue Tape Crew, they have time to troll, they have time to help themselves, but time to help the space? Nah, bro, gotta get to Vodka Tuesday…
That’s very ironic to post a video on LinkedIn given this statement on their obnoxious website… do these people live in some kind of alternate reality or something?
That literally made me laugh out loud I don’t see any problem with people using a leadership opportunity at DMS on a resume or linked in or whatever, it does show your ability to work with people and lead, but this just stretches the truth way out of proportion. Can we even call ourselves a company?? More of an organization I would think
At what point do people who continually aim to undermine an organization get removed from that organization?
If he’s a ‘principal founder’ (from what I’ve read he’s not) then he should have no issues starting up another makerspace where the walls are lined with blue tape. They can call it the Blue Taperspace.
This may in fact be their end game, just do as much damage as they can before trying to do it somewhere else. They have in the past been associated with John Thummel, Kris Anderson and Joe Paden. These banned members, who per a few Facebook posts are planning a space in the Plano area.
It would explain why they are posting on YouTube and LinkedIn, and not to the membership. They may be trying to sink our reputation to aid their own recruiting as the “new, fun all booze all the time makerspace” when people start searching for things to do post covid-19.
Who knows, but I’m surprised they didn’t just stay at ACME since that’s where a few of them went during the covid closure.
We also have amenities such as free electricity on the back parking lot and 24 hour access to the Taperspace bathrooms for your #VanLife pleasure! Wait? You don’t have a #VanLife yet? We’ll help you build yours and assign you a space out back.
I was thinking they were going to be something like the blue man group (oops, is that name copyrighted?):
Except BTG would be all wrapped up in DMS provided blue tape (why not waste even moar of it at someone else’s expense?), and without the distinctive pleasure that members of the BMG are generally silent.
I actually saw 3 rolls of blue tape hanging out in the wild by the tools next to printmaking… Was this some kind of advertisement for the blue tape crew?? Vandalism of the space perhaps? Tempting us like a carrot on a stick?
Not to detract from the importance of this thread, but Blue Man Group is a great show. I’ve seen it 3 times now and recommend it if you get the chance.
