Maybe you could better define what “this” is you’re referring to?
Maybe we should just let people drag our name through the mud.
This constant arguing and division. I discovered the makerspace when I answered a disturbance call as a police officer between two members, who now I would consider very friendly to me. Regardless, I differ with many peoples opinions at the space but that does not mean that I need to be hateful and mean towards them. It usually stay off talk, however I have been approached from some people on social media and I watched some of the meet the candidates the other night, so I came to see some of the questions on talk.
I have been cussed, interrupted by intoxicated people, and had an immigration attorney berate me for being a police officer, but I remembered what I was there for, to create and learn. This tit for tat has to end somewhere and I don’t think that we build our community if we continue to engage in it.
I think the space would be better if we could have respect for the person even if we disagreed on the idea. It is gotten so bad though that even the ideas are dismissed or ignored by one side if someone from the other side proposes it. We have to come together.
Here is an idea: No matter who wins the election, why not appoint the other side as advisers?
If you were working an embezzlement case, would you ask if the parties could stop bickering?
This comment pretty well sums it up, IMO:Questions for ALL Candidates - #4 by brsims
here are the policies they rail against:
- Don’t steal from DMS
- Don’t live at DMS
- DMS won’t provide you with consumables for free
- DMS is not responsible for paying your rent
Where are they doing that? Who?
Have all the candidates answer direct questions put to them on Talk.
Please, you know who this refers to, that past is not very long ago. Also there are a subset of goals for the future health of DMS.
Well I don’t think Mark Havens is doing that. Or Max Kirkland … or Kevin … is Joe?
You are something else man, haha. ![]()
I never worked an embezzlement case, but worked a lot of fraud. People are people. My comment is just why engage in the tit for tat. Be better than that.
I know it is sometimes tough but you can never be wrong if you do the right thing.
Can you really tell me here that the right thing is not to speak out against the blue tape crew?
My comment is, why make videos full of half-truths and outright fabrications, and ignore questions from voters, in an effort to gain control of a non-profit board. Just be better than that.
The thing is we have been working professionally for over a year running this board and successfully getting us back on a sound financial track and rooting out people that were stealing from the space, threatening and in some cases assaulting members.
These four people are actively spreading disinformation and discontent through their trolling and gaslighting with the intent of bringing those offenders back to the space.
It is not wrong of us to defend the space and the membership from them.
It’s not wrong to call them out on their lies.
This is like someone punching you in the face then telling you to turn the other cheek.
Welcome to Law Enforcement…J/K!!!
I’ll just stand by my comment that I think that if you want to see change, be the change. Good luck to everyone and hopefully 2020 turn the other cheek!
Just FYI, Turning the other cheek isn’t strictly religious in connotation any longer. It’s evolved from that origin into common speech/vernacular Mike.
Oh okay … fair enough. It just caught me as turning the other cheek is generally seen as positive.
Everyone on the D&O team has worked very hard for DMS over the past year. James in particular has put a huge amount of time, energy and care into his position and if you only vote for one person for board it should be @mrjimmy. You can call it a tit for tat, I see someone who cares deeply about DMS and who backs up his posts on Talk with a lot of hard work. It’s understandable that James and others in leadership would want to voice concerns about the blue tape group, there’s a lot to be concerned about if you care about the future of DMS.
