Cheap pinball finds - discussion thread for new projects

8-Ball - 1966 by Williams - $395

http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/tag/5322195240.html

2-player game w/middle pop bumper between the flippers (similar to Spanish Eyes/Cue-T/Miss-O/Magic City). Located just north of Oklahoma City. Will need a cabinet repaint.

Fun artwork and theme. Those tall slings at the bottom of the play-field always scare me of a drain heavy geometry.I wonder how the rule set works? Looks like a cool game.

Nice find @nickdangerous

The layout is almost identical to Miss-O, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-N0UT5TEqc

It’s like Spanish Eyes but plays a bit slower due to the smaller 2" flippers. I prefer Spanish Eyes but 8-Ball is a 2-player and that adds a different level of enjoyment. Middle-pop games are cool.

good one for john webb

I am not really into pinball machines, I love to play, but know nothing about value…did see this though in case anyone is interested:

Thanks for posting this find! Looks like it is priced right from what I can tell, though would have to see it in person to assess it fully.

That looks like it is in Rough shape. The fact that all the metals are rusted and how dirty everything is puts it in the $100 or less category for me. The machine looks to not be running as the play-field has a bunch of broken bands. The back glass art looks pretty funny though. @paulstaf thanks for posting, even in rough states we might stumble across someone’s prized childhood machine. My suggestion on this post is to pass, $300 is the absolute maximum you could charge for a less popular title in this state. You should be able to get a title like this in working condition from $500 to $800. And that I feel is the cost effective purchasing condition and price for most members because you can always get rid of it when your finished.

Doodle Bug - 1971 by Williams - $250 current bid

Located in Houston.

Funny game… you get points as long as you can keep the “doodle bug” shimmying up the playfield. Note the gap between the flippers and slings below (similar to Teacher’s Pet). Simple but fun.

Looks like it’s in great condition for that price.

Man… ever since last June the “cheap finds” have been drying up. I rarely see anything anymore within a 300 mile radius!

Looking back upon this thread, I should have picked up Surf Champ, Rancho, Black Pyramid, and Doodle Bug… oh well.

Still keeping my eyes peeled!

Actually there is another Doodle Bug for sale in Little Rock - $200. Here’s some pics:

Looks like a decent project, but the main issue is a 6" crack in the upper left corner of the backglass.

Peripherally related, if anyone is interested in a slot-car track, there will be one in the garage sale at my place this weekend.

What are you asking for the slot-car track?
