What Are Your Favorite Spaceship Bridge Simulators?

Contributing with my top list of simulators:

olite is inspired by the 8-bit classic Elite, and many aspects of gameplay will be familiar to players of that game. In the tradition of open-world games, there’s no overall story: you can be a millionaire trader, a veteran combateer, a feared pirate, a lonely miner, a notorious smuggler, or all of them, or something else entirely, based on your own actions.

Vendetta Online is a 3D space combat MMORPG for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS, as well as the Oculus Rift. This MMO permits thousands of players to interact as the pilots of spaceships in a vast universe. Users may build their characters in any direction they desire, becoming rich captains of industry, military heroes, or outlaws. A fast-paced, realtime “twitch” style combat model gives intense action, coupled with the backdrop of RPG gameplay in a massive online galaxy. Three major player factions form a delicate balance of power, with several NPC sub-factions creating situations of economic struggle, political intrigue and conflict. The completely persistent universe and detailed storyline add to the depth of immersion, resulting in a unique online experience.

One I’ve been wanting to try, that is very similar to Artemis is Empty Epsilon.

I’ve never played a bridge simulator in any serious sense (only with a few roommates in college). But the genre has always fascinated me. I didn’t see Interstellar Rift on the list, and it looks like a fun one, though I have not tried it yet. Has anyone else?

Though in early access:

Star Citizen shows great promise, I also LOVE Elite.

I wouldn’t say that Eve Online is a spaceship bridge simulator since it’s all point-and-click. Excel-fu is also a soft prereq for that game…

hey I should teach a course on that

How to scam/avoid being scammed in the game might be a co-req.

I am reminded that my accounts are still active despite the fact that I’ve done little but set up a very long training program in the past ~18 months.

FYI - There’s a good chance we’ll be playing Empty Epsilon next time. Stay tuned!

That’s pretty much where I’m at with the game.

I think we should have a small, technical event to work through installation and setup

That’s a great idea for either game. This past friday it took over 2 hours to get everything set up and get people playing. That was far too long and too much load on me. Let’s hash this out

It is done. C’mon, then!

(Empty Epsilon scheduled for 4/28)
