Talking Root Beer

Continuing the discussion from April Pot Luck: Booming - April 30th 7-9p:

The formula was for 3 gallons:

3 gallons filtered water
3 pounds Cane Sugar
2/3 rds bottle of Zatarains Root Beer Extract (full bottles makes 5 Gal)
1/2 cup Molasses
3 tbs real Vanilla Extract
15-20 drops of Wintergreen Oil

So I’m going to attempt to start a batch tomorrow night with Ken.

I’m going to try and emulsify the wintergreen oil with gum arabic (anyone know where I can get this?) to make a more consistent soda because Ken’s last batch seemed to vary cup to cup on the amount of wintergreen.

Also, anyone know where to find Zatarains Root Beer Extract locally? I’m going to a couple spots tonight to try and find it.

If you want talking root beer then you need to add extra carbonation to it.

If your root beer is talking there must be some strange roots in it.
