I have been considering buying a metal chop saw in order to be able to make more precise cuts (including miters) on steel tubing. So, I would like to propose the following:
I will buy an Evolution S355MCS heavy duty chop saw (plus a stand) and donate to the metal shop (or possibly the machine shop if we would prefer). I can either pay for the saw myself and have it delivered to Makerspace or donate the money. (The price for the saw and stand is $1,001 plus tax.)
We already have a cold saw with coolant in the machine shop that does a great job on square and miter cuts. I have a metal cutting chop saw at home similar to the evolution and it throws extremely sharp chips, cleanup is such a hassle I rarely use it.
