Naming the classrooms

But is it ‘Earth’ or ‘Terra’. Are we Earthlings or Terrans?

Agree that the naming should be consistent but isn’t.

There is a map in the front lobby (at least there was two days ago). There is a map on the bulletin board by the drinking fountain. At one time every single room in the building had a map of fire extinguisher locations, with all the classroom names on it (most of these maps are still posted).

There are maps in several places on the wiki (new member 411, and main page of the wiki).

Some are Texans.

As a newer member navigating from the maps that are indeed posted many places is still confusing, hence the suggestion for the clearly labeled rooms, especially considering all I know is likely to change with the expansion. Feedback for what it is worth.

A map outside each classroom door with a “You are here” marker would be helpful.

“On the wiki” is simply not enough. I am generally NOT surfing the web when I’m looking for a classrom.

Absolutely agree that each room should be clearly identified!

Maps are a start, but IMO maps alone is inadequate.

I was only taking issue with the comment that there is a paucity of maps.

There may be really a lot of them. They are not obvious at least to me.

A consistent and reliable place to find physical maps all thoughout the building would be very nice.

That map is still there, but it is missing the critical “you are here” reference point.

I like the planets and colors

Mercury orange
Venus yellow
Terra green
Mars red
Jupiter ???
Saturn purple
Neptune blue
Uranus reserve
Pluto brown

The door could have a psinting or print of the planer on the base color of both sides

Lets not forget about the sun and the moon!

I guess one could say that Texans are ‘out of this world’

OK, it needed to be said.

Uranus and the Assteroids can be found in that region between Pluto/Mercury and Venus/Mars/Neptune on your map… <ducking and running>

here here and something that’s pronounceable in one word or at least passes the Radio broadcast test.

IPv6 addressing right?

I know … name them like our servers … PRCRLECT1 … Production Classroom Lecture 1 :stuck_out_tongue:

Just a joke … I think we should rename the servers as well …

Plus if you are counting Pluto then there are quite a number of Trans NeptunIan objects that could be drawn from, but the downside is the names aren’t very exciting.

Yeh, I considered Kepler-452b but decided against it.

Celestial Objects is a great idea. Stick with it.

Consider adding Constellations as well.

Name them after Disney characters. Then you’ll have a near unlimited selection and can legitimately use the name Pluto. :smirk:
