Can this please be a thing for the people that are brand new to using them, they are very dangerous if you do not know what you are doing and can get out of hand real quick.
I would like to teach a class on the proper use of the different attachments you use on the angle grinders along with the advantages and the disadvantages along with what you should be careful of while using the different attachments
The class would go over using these tools
Corded 4 1/2 inch angle grinder
Cordless 4 1/2 grinder
Corded 6 inch grinder
Actually i am glad you say that because i am thinking about offering classes at odd times to help people with hectic schedules so is an afternoon class a morning class or an evening class preferable?
Thanks, that’s much appreciated. I work second shift so generally mornings or midnight work for me. Otherwise I try to grab what I can in my days off Sunday and Monday.
There’s been discussion about doing this. I believe @Adam_Oas was one of the interested parties. I’d love to see it happen (and probably recurring, frankly).
If you haven’t already seen them, here’s some informational links, in addition to the calendar linked above by Robert:
first, a wiki with some information that might be helpful. https://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/So_You_Want_to_Teach_A_Class
You’ve already done several of the “steps” but that might help with “the next one”.
Please submit for honorarium to your favorite committee {subliminal metal shop metal shop metal shop } (and optionally, for yourself) by submitting at least 240 hours before the scheduled class and requesting it.
and some good information in this template (created for CA, but easily customizable/applicable anywhere).
Please ask if we can assist in this. You’ll have plenty of interest to make several classes, I think, and support in creating the class materials if desired.
Proper safety gear, and a healthy respect for the possibility of catastrophic disassembly of the grinding/cutting disks is important. Google “angle grinder accident” if you don’t believe me (but not near lunchtime).
Jeremy - Great to see you going forward this. Will be an excellent topic.
If you want, get with me and I’ll help you go through the signup process to help make sure no errors and everything there that the Honorarium auditors want.
Will help put together the basic PowerPoint that we’ll take some photos of tools, and some links. This can be linked on the calendar submission and folks can review before the hands on and provides a reference for later use.
