I’m trying to get some metal labels printed for automotive and was wondering if there are any prerequisites before using the Eufymake?
Do I need to be signed off to access? I read thru the other threads and I see there are classes but I’m not finding any for June, and I’m unclear if they’re required prior to using the machine, or if I can simply do some online classes.
Yes there are classes that are required - but we are out of white and gloss inks, so the machines are down at the moment [and why no classes are currently scheduled].
There are also talks about how to collect fees for ink usage - I believe the “trial” free ink time is over or at least near its end.
Since you said it’s a metal tag - have you thought about putting a piece of heat-resistant tape (in the powder-coating closet) on the tag, laser whatever you want to say on the tape, peal off the surrounding tape, powder coat the tag, then peal off the remaining tape?
you can also do a base coat and then a taped top-coat in a high-contrasting color.
Thanks, the tags aren’t that big, so worried text will be a pain to do properly, which is why I was looking at Eufymake. Another option I was looking at is dye sublimation.
If you’re going for a look similar to the green “business card” example, that would be pretty awesome. Ironically, that doesn’t even USE white, but pretty sure it won’t let you print if the white is empty.
I believe before you begin and after you finish it tells you how much ink gets used in ml. A cartridge is 100ml, and just a little less than $50 each, (the $200-300 number people have thrown out is for a complete set of cartridges plus the cleaning cartridge) so my thought would be something like charging 50 cents per ml (e.g. one of the 3d extruded 3" tall prints I did was 3ml, so would be something like $1.50, where a full size wall piece would be quite a bit more). The confounding factor is the cleaning cartridge - not sure how often that runs or how much it costs separately, so that would have to be amortized into the per ml cost.
This is where it would be great for Eufy to have individual accounts with a management level account so you could reconcile and see who printed what and how much they paid. It’d be a nice enhancement request, but realize we’re probably an edge case for that.
Another alternative would be to have to badge in to access the computer or pad to run the Eufy, then you could use timestamps to line up who printed what.
