I love learning new things, but mostly my hobbies revolve around car restoration and modification. My wife and I own several cars, including a 1955 GMC 100 Series pickup that’s been converted to EV. I’m in the middle of converting a 57 Chevy Bel Air 4 door to EV as well, but have been stuck repairing rust for a while now. I’ve also restored a 1967 Triumph GT6 and converted to EFI, and more recently a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL that’s been converted with a Holley Sniper EFI. We manage to keep my wife’s 1994 Ford Mustang convertible running pretty well, but my 1985 Porsche 928S is slowly decomposing for lack of attention. Just recently we added a 1972 Honda Z600 to the mix, so now all the other projects go even slower.
In addition to cars, I’ve built a few guitars, I do some 3D printing (with mixed success), I’ve reprogrammed automotive gauges using ardunio, I designed, built and framed my workshop, assembled 2 automotive 4 post lifts (one multiple times, and had to rebuild a cylinder when the seal went and trapped one of the cars in the air.) I taught myself to weld MIG, but would love to learn the right way, and I’ve started working with TIG, which has gone great with thicker metals but not well on sheetmetal.
I’m always happy to help and to learn new things.
