High Voltage Experimentation

Continuing the discussion from DMS July 2016 Show and Tell:

So @Lampy @artg_dms has been stirring me up and I have started ordering the parts to create a 500W Tesla coil based upon the ZVS/flyback you provided me last week. Are you planning on bringing your toy to the space this Thursday?

I have also ordered the caps/resistors to join your marx generator class if they arrive from China in time. I would also like to experiment with using inductors instead of the resistors in the marx generator… Maybe do a two or three stage generator with some caps from Fred’s and some diy toroid inductors…

I won’t be at DMS on Thursday, it’s my youngest son’s 14th birthday. But I’m all about getting together next week to experiment.

Maybe something in the 0.5MV range?

I hear one can do all sorts of high-voltage experimentation on 121 in Grapevine right about now.

If work doesn’t get in my way, I wouldn’t mind jumping in with building a coil or a marx generator. I am sure I that I have a few useful bits from Fred’s or from my own stash.

After seeing Ken’s Marx generator last week I am totally wanting to build one myself.

We are wanting to have a small group build or class. More sparks the better!
