Crossing my fingers, hoping there’s a WoodShop safety and orientation class opening up soon. Anyone know any details? I’ve been trying, unsuccessfully, to catch a seat in one for awhile now, and have come to the realization that I have to watch the calendar like a hawk. Any help or info would be much appreciated
If you have a way to be reminded every day, e.g. setting up reminder in Outlook or Google Calendar, or reminder app on phone, stick this URL (it filters on Woodshop classes) in one and click on every day: https://calendar.dallasmakerspace.org/?category=63
There is also a way to do this on Discord, but that’s above my pay grade.
That’s kinda what I figured, I’ll just keep on keeping on lol. Thanks for the quick response
There are two other options if you understand what an RSS feed is, that’s one option. The other is to log into the discord and use the Calendar group to which every new calendar event is posted.
Ask @TSki or @Greg_Seale
Been issues with the planer and that has slowed down woodshop safety and orientation. Check issues and requests portion of talk for planer status
I am also looking for woodshop orientation class.
Have renewed my membership after an absence, and am ready to get back to Making again!!
I don’t see any orientation classes, full or otherwise, for the entire month of November - If I’ve already taken the orientation before, is there a shortcut process to begin making stuff again ?
Thx
Are you just looking for a refresher, then? Once you’ve gotten the permissions, they stay on your account.
@Beth -
Yes, I’m looking for a little refresher - I want to make sure I’m using the equipment safely, although I’m only to be making charcuterie boards to start with, and I made several already when I was previously a member.
The other thing, though (long story short here) is that I signed up under a new email address, as the old business (and also the old email address) is dead & defunct. So I assume none of my previous permissions will carry over.
Just looking to get started ASAP and safely!!
I believe that you could just audit one of the classes since you previously got your permissions.
2 ways to link up old permissions:
- go to your account and start a ticket. Tell them your previous email, and they can transfer over permissions.
- Ask the instructor if you can just audit and they can put you into the AD manually. There’s a (full) class tomorrow evening. Doug Cave @dougbcave is the teacher. Now that I’ve pinged him, he may respond.
I’ve been pinged:) (Thank you Beth!)
You’re welcome to come tomorrow night (Tuesday) 6:00. I also have a class posted for Thursday night same time, but that one hasn’t shown up on the calendar yet.
