Wide Format Printer Updates

There are a couple of things I wanted to update our wide format printer users on. See below for details and feel free to hit me up with any questions.

  1. First of all, thank you to the person that donated all the roll media. Very cool thing to do. I’ve set the stuff aside and will be going through it all to verify compatibility in the next week. As I work through the stash I’ll mark it with which printer(s) it will work with as well as an associated usage fee to cover ink and printer overhead. Anything we got that won’t work in our printers will be made available for members to take away vis the donation shelf.

  2. I’ve cleaned up the clutter related to the printers in the Creative Arts room. I’ve removed the various matte papers that we can’t currently print on (see the note below regarding the Epson 2200) and have placed the canvas and letter-sized luster paper on a shelf near the left side of the HP 1055 printer. I’d like to target that shelf as the location for the paper supply so please help me out and return paper there when you’re done and so what you can to keep it tidy.

  3. The EPSON 2200 is still here at my studio. I purchased a set of refillable carts for it and filled them with ink but the printer is not accepting the non-OEM cartridges just yet. I have a feeling the fix involves a chip resetter specific to the 2200 and I’m investigating that. The 2200 will be able to print on matte paper and when it’s back up and running I’ll bring the stash of matte paper back up to the space.

  4. The HP 1055 is currently down with a bum Cyan print head. I’ve ordered the replacement part and it should be here in the next day or so.

  5. Friendly reminder about usage fees. Please pay them via PayPal or by putting cash in the black cashbox located behind the scanner next to the EPSON 7880. Please do not pay usage fees via the white box next to the door. That box is for general Arts and Crafts fees and donation and we have no way of knowing if the money is associated with printing. The same goes for the vinyl cutter. It has it’s own box, too.

Thanks to all the print makers out there and like I said, don’t hesitate to hit me up with any questions or concerns.

Thanks for doing all that. The HP matte printer would be nice, will materials be cheaper for the HP than the Epson?

The HP is a 36" wide printer and for plain paper we’ve set the price at
$1/ft so it is a bit cheaper than printing on the 24" printer at $2/ft. The
paper is a lot cheaper but the ink and printer consumables are a little
higher.

Steve - when you say “plain paper” you mean non-photo paper, right? So if I want to print out some full size project templates that are 20" x 30" or something like that the HP would be the way to go?

You got it!

(Plus some other characters to make the system happy…)

Is the HP 1055 fixed?

Yes it is. (extra chars to make the message go through)
