There will be a wide format printer training of sorts tomorrow night. It’s during open-house time which adds chaos so this will be a brief informal “speed” training session and would be a good refresher for those that need it or a quick and dirty run-down for those that have some experience with these machines. I will schedule another training session next week that will be better paced and more in-depth.
Reminder: Training is required before using the Epson 7880 Wide Format printer.
I haven’t found a vinyl media that works with the inks that this type of
printer uses. You can see what happens, I taped a failed attempt to the
wall next to the printer. It just smears right off.
That being said, I do have adhesive-backed media that I can print to. I
have clear and white synthetic. It’s not available at DMS but I’d be happy
to print for you here at my studio. It’s 24" wide and $5/foot. A word of
caution… this isn’t stuff that works well for outdoor use (like bumper
stickers). The 7880 and the printers I have in my studio are art/photo
printers and the inks are geared for that. For outdoor type stuff you
really need a signage printer that used solvent-based inks that are
designed to hold up better under harsh sunlight and such.
