Who TF is doing this?

Taking the riving knives off of both saws. The Sawstop’s is just laying there and the one for the Powermatic is nowhere to be found.

This is dangerous as hell.

This bugs me as well.

I noticed the splitter missing and reinstalled it on the Powermatic last night, maybe around 8 or 9pm, only to notice it missing shortly after.

While the Powermatic’s splitter attachment system needs to be replaced, it’s still functional when tightened with pliers. I can understand it needing to be removed for slot cutting, but it should be replaced afterward.

Are there any operations where the SawStop’s riving knife should be legitimately removed? Maybe cove cutting? But that’s pretty rare and it should still be replaced afterward.

Would it be a good idea to make some signage for the table saw encouraging the use of the splitter/riving knife?

Perhaps we could also use RFID Interlock logs to correlate camera footage and warn/retrain members who forget to reattach?

My problem is with people not leaving it as they found it. Someone took it off and didn’t bother to replace it.

Sounds like some video perusal is needed so intervention can be taken

This is unsat. Whoever is doing this needs to come forward and explain why they didn’t put it back when they were done. At the very least.

The saw stop was me, I removed it to make a dado cut which is perfectly safe, cause the only time the riving is necessary is when you fully cut and spererate the piece to prevent pinch in, since it was a dado with material at the top to prevent pinch it’s safe without the knife, but it was a small over sight I forget to put it back, but in my defense I did clean and dust the entire shop before I left I just forgot to replace the knife and that’s on me, in the future I won’t forget to
