Last meetings were on June 9th, July 14th, and August 11th. I don’t see a member meeting scheduled on calendar in same time frame for this month (September) or an agenda page on the Wiki. Does anyone know when is next regular member meeting?
It is always the 2nd Thursday of the month, and I see it was on the calendar. Apparently a wiki page was never created etc. I was out that night, so no idea if one happened.
It was scheduled in a room and nobody showed up. I guess it wasn’t on the radar for anyone.
Wow…that’s embarrassing. I have to plead guilty, in fact, but I guess from your statement almost everyone is.
Is this what always happens as organizations of humans get too big? As in: Too many people = more polarization = “no matter what I say/think 30%-50% will disagree and lobby against me” = “why bother?” (i.e. apathy & complacency)
FWIW, making quorum again for member meetings every once in a while is a relatively “new again” phenomenon.
The reality is it’s all a bit chicken and egg. Nothing on the agenda? Why go? Probably not going to make quorum probably anyway? Why put something on the agenda?
Unfortunately, the board meeting has largely supplanted what was usually discussed at the member meetings.
We also used to have a show and tell as part of member meetings.

I was present at the last member meeting on the 8th. There were a couple (2 IIRC) other people who I heard ask (couldn’t tell you who or who was asked) if we were having one. My response was that it was scheduled for today, but apparently, nobody thought about it because it was so early in the month.
As long as the last couple of member meetings went, there’s no way I’d want to add a show & tell segment!

Why not? Showing off your projects, even if just a picture on the TVs, is central to Makerspace.

Well, if we’re going to have a monthly members’ meeting, it doesn’t have to be reserved for super-serious yelling matches about the correct reading of subsection 6.
Point: It should at least be semi-enjoyable.

I was there and about three other folks showed asking where the meeting was being held.
As I recall Robert D. and others were mounting the new projector in Lecture Hall and I came in and asked if it was in there. Reply was “no” Interactive room.
About 4 folks standing in there chatting about their meeting that had ended earlier.
Guess we need one inflaming item to bring folks out.
I can’t really imagine that happening…
I created a wiki entry for October as well as submitted a calendar entry (pending).
