When Are 10x10 Pieces Coming Down?

Do we have a date yet for when the 10x10 artwork will be taken down? My piece is going to be part of a Christmas present, and I need to get it wrapped and shipped in the next 7-10 days.

That was going to be part of the discussion for the upcoming committee meeting. However, if you need to ship yours, feel free to cut the fishing cord holding it up and take it at your convenience. (If others want to do the same thing, please shoot me a message to let me know who you are and which piece is yours so I don’t think we have a low-key art heist)

When are the new ones going up?

what new ones are you referring to?

I love us having Maker art on the walls and in the Space. Let’s get a new exhibit going!

Doesn’t have to be 10x10.

Ah, I was afraid I had agreed to something in a sleep deprived state and since forgotten. I’m taking suggestions.

Cairenn made the suggestion of a micro art event. Like 3x3 or 4x4.

I would love to see a kinetic sculpture event. The biggest caveat would be 4 inches max from the wall.

If you look at the center locked door to the warehouse, there is a keyhole 1" hole. We have 3x or 4x of these. I think micro artwork to fill those would be very cool.

Mobile (not like mobile phone) art or ceiling artwork could be another series.

Food for thought.

Re mobile/hanging/kinetic art

Cool idea. Now I’m mentally chasing Calder-esque rabbits down the rabbit hole. Thanks, I think. :hugs:

I will miss the view looking down the hallway and hope another show is announced to take its place. But after the holidays, please. This time of year is booked.

Can someone better at engineering than me have an automaton class…plleeease? I only know how to kind of make a piston and a crank shaft but there have to be more “simple machine” options out there

This is a great book I recently bought. 507 Mechanical Movements: Mechanisms and Devices
Another book I’m going to get.

I’m planning to design and build a kinetic piece similar to what David Roy does. Been studying the mechanisms online.

I had to add that one to my Christmas list. It looks really cool.

It’s a nice book. When you look on Amazon it’ll recommend a couple other books. I was actually putting them in cart when you wrote your comment. I’m getting the ones that have patterns so I can import them into CAD, then scale them to size I want. Can then make out of wood, plastic or

May get some .250" mild steel and make them steam punky (can’t afford brass. 125" 24" x 36" $400-$500). Looking at getting some brass plating kits - way cheaper.

Damn this post … just spent $45 on these books!

Maybe have a “Toys and Puzzles” display in late Spring - say May. We have 6 months to display things, everything from wooden toys to Whizzer Rings from J&SM

do we have any such books at the space? These look great. I’ll definitely need to kill an afternoon at half price or barnes and noble now! I’m one of those people that has to flip pages and see if it’s got many pictures lol

I don’t know. As far as I know the only committees that keep small libraries are: CA, Machine Shop, and Electronics. So many books, so little space.

I’ll peruse the electronics and machine. speaking of electronics is the place next door still the best option for little odds and ends locally? I want to make a tracing board
