What classes would you like to see Digital Media teach?

Audio recording, and editing if necessary.

Product photography is definitely on my list. I hadn’t considered making a light box bc I’m not very handy, but that would be really easy to make.

I hear you, brother. The leap from the tutorials to making parts has proven quite difficult for me; even harder than following a tutorial…

We only discovered the touch screen and camera missing last week. You were the last person on our list of people that might know what happened to them. But, if nobody knows what happened to them, and nobody knows anybody else that might know, then maybe it’s safe to call it stolen and file a report.

I’d be happy to report them both stolen to the police, but I’m currently in New York, and will be here for the next three weeks.

no need to wait. here is a video on building one: PVC lightbox

Robert, can you please give us a little insight into who is authorized to file a police report for theft of DMS property? Can anyone do it? Should it be done by a committee chair or Board Member? Any chair or a specific one or two?

I think this is an excellent idea. But then what? How does one see these recordings?
I think it’s time we set aside a little room for a video library where one can watch them. I for one can donate at least a dozen leather working or woodturning videos (albeit in VHS. Remember those?).

I know one obvious solution is to put them on YouTube. I for one will never allow one of my classes to be put there. that’s just my choice, but am open to ideas.

The way it will be handled is person registering the class will decide if it is recorded and where it ends up. Before it goes up onto our Youtube it will need to be reviewed in some process. The raw files and processed will end up in the member that registered the class’s directory somewhere on the Members/Committee drives.

As a matter of organization, please let the board do it. Our new rule also governs it.

Only persons or members that have been formally authorized to act as an agent or representative for the Dallas Makerspace, are permitted to represent DMS in any and all conversations, writing, or other communication with any public official. Failure to secure permission may result in the forfeiture of membership. [Adopted by Board of Directors vote 03/23/2018]

Since we are going to have quite a bit of video from classes at some point soon.
It might be great to teach a basic video editing course.

Thanks. Sounds like everyone agrees. We split that off into this separate thread.
