I’m wanting to underglaze a leaf imprint, I have some little sauce bottles I was planning on using to do the done detail into the cracks, should I water down the colors a little before putting it into the applicator bottles? I kind of want to achieve a watercolor effect.
Since most underglaze needs 3 coats to be solid and not watercolor-like (check the bottle for recommended number of coats), I would experiment with one or two layers on test tiles, as well as one that’s watered down to see the differences. Some underglazes are made to look like watercolor if that’s something you want to explore.
That said, you could also apply underglaze to the cracks and wipe it back if the lines are carved (shallow textures are fine too). Apply the UG, wait for it to dry for a moment, then wipe it off the surfaces that you don’t want it on.
