ATTENTION FELLOW VIDEONAUTS! VECTOR’s kicking off a new SIG for video games, and we want you!
One of the things that drew me to VECTOR originally was our arcade space, which was basically (and heart-breakingly) just a cluttered storage room for awesome stuff when I got here about six months ago, and which in that short time has been lovingly crafted into the much cooler Dungeon by @Humegirl, et al. However, I am a very long-time passionate enjoyer of video games of all sorts, so after we got the arcade machines up and running in the lobby, I set sights on our hefty collection of PC and classic console gear, and I’m very pleased to say that we’ve got a pretty decent space going near there right now. But games are meant to be played, and I would hate for that all that great stuff to go on collecting dust just as it did when it was sitting in storage.
So, that is why I’m calling you out. There are tons of folks at DMS who love games (I know this because I’ve already talked to so many of you), and I would love for us to get together and run some cool events (like game showcases, tournaments, LAN parties…), improve our fledgling space (paint the walls, make and hang game-related artwork, add new gear…), and most importantly, share and play some awesome games!
Just to be clear, I’m not begging you for responsibility, but if you have any interest at all, let us know by reacting or responding to this message! I’ll be posting our first SIG meeting soon to get things formalised and which I hope you’ll attend, just to hear your thoughts and ideas on what we can/should do with the group going forward.
