The vacuformer appears to be collapsing it’s back caster plate, if someone would like to replace it that would make it way easier to use the casters.

While they’re at it can we ask how the part is installed? No documents on it
Looks like 4 bolts and casters tend to be a push fit.
I put it together, consulted Tim, Lee and several of the other veterans when I put the wheels on, seems that way to me too, but it’s failing after only 3 months so that can’t be the correct installation? Right?
could the c-channel bolt on from the underside of the uprights?
That seems like it would be more sturdy in the direction of failure, though odd in other ways…
Here is a pic from the website,
It looks as though they have changed the mounting of that bar. Possibly a design flaw, or we just mounted it incorrectly on construction.
Hm. Yeah. that’s totally different than what we have in our photo. The “bolt feet” go into the uprights, whereas our casters go into the lateral. The lateral is also completely differently attached, what with no bolt holes showing on it anywhere.
Maybe we got the last of the ‘pre-re-design’…
EDIT: ah. that’s the 686FS; the upgrade…
LOL, you are correct. Just clicked through the link I found the pic on Google.
Seems to be the only pic of that side of any formech.
In the photo you can see another white c channel bar that is supposed to go on top of the now bent bar. It seems cosmetic, and just sits on top of the one we need to fix
Was wondering about that. I agree; appears mostly ironic decorative if that’s the intended purpose…
Hmm.
Still have to note the c-channel would be stronger if flipped over and undermounted, as a possible “immediate” addressal, but likely NOT the ultimate fix…
If i remember correctly you cannot install the c-channel flipped because the casters don’t fit…
Was afraid of that…
What about… (sorry for bad explaining)
I notice the holes on the “decorative piece” appear to line up with the castor holes.
Can you mount the c-channel upside down from as shown, bolted in place, and then put the “decorative” piece in place atop the castors, covering the c-channel, so they are proud of the C in the channel?
I’m sure that’s not the right way, so really just brainstorming…
