Using pecan on the multicam

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has used pecan wood on the multicam–(I have never used the wood before for any projects)–am I asking for trouble? To further the discussion: what woods work/don’t work well on the multicam? I’ve only used maple and plywood so far…

Thanks and Cheers!

@fedakkee will have more to say, but I think it’s mostly a matter of getting the feeds and speeds right for the bit and the material you’re working with. Also making sure you have a stable fixture setup so the material doesn’t move. Pecan seems to be on par with hickory for hardness: http://tinytimbers.com/janka.htm

I’ve never seen anyone cutting it there before, so worth a try. Always recommend bring a new sharp bit when testing a new variety of wood. Suggest taking a piece of the stock, setting up your tool, and trying a few cuts. Be sure and switch cut direction as well, many varieties just prefer climb cuts.
