I’m modifying an older PC case, which entails drilling some fan holes.
I’ve purchased both the 4.5" and 7.5" carbide hole cutters, and have various clamps to secure the case and panel.
One or two of the holes is in the top of the 17" tall sheet metal case.
Is there a drill press at DMS with enough clearance to mount a 4.5" hole cutter, and fit the 17" tall case underneath?
For the 7.5" holes to be cut in the sheet metal side panel and ABS plastic spacer, they will be clamped to a piece of sacrificial plywood.
Do the Drill Presses adjust down to a low enough speed to use a 7.5" hole cutter on ABS, without overheating & melting the plastic?
Thanks for any info about the Drill Presses,
David Baldock

The drill press on the plastics shop will accommodate your job both in terms of clearance and speed . If you drill the soft metal parts of the case , use your own tooling and clean up all of the mess very thoroughly . We don’t want metal shavings in the plastics shop . We follow the woodshop training for that tool so if you have woodshop basics you can use this drill press

Thanks for the reply.
I’m signed up for next week’s Woodshop Safety Training course.
Once I finish the training, and get all of my materials together, I’ll come up to DMS to modify the PC case & side panel.
I have my own UVEX Safety Glasses, and a some composite-toe work boots.
Is there a shop-vac or good broom & dust pan there in in the Plastics Shop, or do I need to bring those with me?
Thanks,
