Triggered the saw stop 2024/01/15

I’m still not sure what I did to do it, but I triggered the original saw stop (the one closest to the miter saw). Wood was not wet, no epoxy, didn’t touch blade.
Let me know what I owe for the cartridge and the blade.

Hey! Happy to take a look, thanks for being willing to learn.

Best guess is, after you cut your wood, the blade touched the miter attachment… which is metal.

$100 for the learning experience, cheapest way to force yourself to remember to always think through your entire cut.

Money goes in the tombstone or use the iPad by the lathes.

Thanks!

Ps- that’s a lot cheaper than buying a new sliding miter attachment, $1400!

Yeah, adding onto what Ian said, whenever you’re in doubt, practice your cut with the tool powered off. See if there will be any issues with your hand placement, miter placement, etc. and adjust accordingly.

The $100 isn’t meant to be a punishment too, it’s just the cost of replacing the SawStop cartridge, since those cost at least 100 at MSRP (dado stack is more expensive at like 130).

Makes sense. I’m always so meticulous and normally think through the operation but didn’t account for the possibility of the blade touching the guide. Nevertheless makes sense now. I submitted my $100 yesterday. Thank you.
