I need to make a canvas cover for the Diacro bender in metalshop to protect it from abrasive dust. I know how to sew, what training is required to use this machine?
What are good sources for vinyl coated canvas like a boat cover, I’ll need about 1.5 yards for the bender and two tooling shelves.
Thx Randy
I just replaced the soft pickup bed cover today with an a hard top (aluminum one). I can give you a piece that is 5’ x 5’ if that work. The Pffafen beast will sew that easily. Can drop it off in metal shop on Monday or Tuesday.
I’ll check at JoAnns first, I would like to find green vinyl so it is obvious what the covers are for. I started thinking about using a BBQ grill cover a few weeks ago but then decided there was no reason to cut corners and it deserves a more professional look.
That’s a lot smaller than I was envisioning. (and easier to make)
FYI - If you could live with “not green”, I’m pretty sure there is an abandoned roll of GREY vinyl in the back corner of the sewing room. If still there, feel free to appropriate for your purposes.
edit:
And if the “not green” works, but the grey is gone, I’m pretty sure I acquired some vinyl during the leather sale that @coloneldan and @HankCowdog coordinated some time ago. And it wasn’t the pink vinyl, either. I’m thinking it was something mundane like beige.
Well, I taped a piece of the green vinyl I’ve got to the … … taller green thing that I think is next to the Diacro bender. Let me know if that will work.
