In an effort to improve our tour nights PR is currently working on creating a Google calender for tour guides to sign up on.
This way we can see who will be conducting tours, have a way to contact them, and ensure that we are properly staffed.
If you are interested in being a part of Tour Nights and would like to lead a tour please shoot me a message!
If you currently lead tours I would like you to reach out as well so I can create a list.
In addition to having signups we will also be looking at how tours are conducted and seeking input on how they can be improved. If you have suggestions please post a comment below!!
Questions, comments, and concerns are always welcome as well
Iāve also taken the liberty of adding you to the [email protected] group inbox.
PM me and I can setup email forwarding for you, however you will not be able to send as the dallasmakerspace.org domain from a forwarded message. If you need help logging in to the email then feel free to reach out.
@noblegoblin also may I suggest a tours@ alias for PR?
Would be nice to have a contact spot for alternate tour time requests.
We can also look at a system like Calendly for alternate tours. The free version is probably enough for us, and if not since it would be an operational support we might be able to swing a seat for a common calendar.
Is this for coordinating Tour Guides?
Or for some other purpose?
If tour guides, Iāll throw out there that Google Calendar now offers āalternate meeting timesā, which does help quite a bit with scheduling (though Iāve never used Googleās version, specifically).
This way, everyone works in the existing calendar, and can see all invitees availability, and can propose alternatesā¦
That might not be what youāre proposing doing with Calendly, though.
For non-members to request alternate tour times than the typical Thursday night.
The āpropose new meeting timeā works for existing meetings, but as someone who does not have existing arrangements it allows for an external party to schedule something tentatively and provide their contact information.
This will be to coordinate and see how many people will be able to help with tours on a tour night. So we can ensure we always have enough guides who are experienced as well as pair up new guides with them so they learn the ropes.
