We are short on tour guides this morning, if anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated.
If you aren’t comfortable leading a tour it would help to have someone in the lobby to get waivers signed and answer questions between tours.
Tours start at 10.
Thanks in advance!

At least two very large groups have come through so far. I’ve signed four people out of mine. @kthompson395 came to help out with one of the big groups.

By my count, we have 9 new members from tours today, and a few others who said they’d sign up later.

I mean I’m not saying I should be sick every weekend, but if that’s how signups go maybe I should think about it.

Is there a reason why the tours are Saturday mornings? I feel that there would be more tour guides if it was in the afternoons. It wouldn’t hurt to try it out for a while.

It’s been done on Thursday nights. Post COVID, we started doing them Saturdays, and it works better. We get good attendance, and there are fewer people in the building to interrupt when a tour comes through.
We REALLY need people to give tours. If you can come one or two Saturdays a month, it woul really be appreciated. Thank you.

I tried to get Thursday night tours going. I had three volunteers the first time and two the next times.
We can’t expand tours until we have more tour guides. I’m open to all ideas that can engage more guides.
Is there a good way of putting up and publicizing ad-hoc tours on some kind of publicly accessible calendar outside of a regularly scheduled date like Thursday night or Saturday? For example, if I’m in the lab working on something and I am waiting on a long reaction to finish I might be able to do a tour while I wait. I’d normally be working on writing and other computer tasks but could put that aside if someone showed up during that time period.
Got to make the calendar yell at people about tour days:
I had been working on a replacement kiosk/calendar system for the big displays around the space… would be nice if maybe near tour times we could make those show a notice to members that if they would like to help or demo, they should swing by
