At the space, lights out, tornado sirens going off, its pretty bad…
Where is the safest place to go in the building
Power is totally out at 0600
Computer lab is probably the best location. Or lecture hall.
Common room isn’t too bad either, but I’d probably go in the lab or lecture where there are doors.
I’m currently weather spotting - tornado shouldn’t be hitting that area, should be more to the southeast of Dallas. But nonetheless, stay safe/under cover.
Be careful about the doors, if the power is off: it’s very easy to get locked outside.
My membership just expired, but I can be over there and help if needed in ten min with flashlights/backups if needed.
If anyone is headed this way power is out, by the sounds of the power lines arcing and possibly transformers blowing it will
Be out for a while, so key fobs aren’t going to work. Id check the
Webcams to see if power is back before coming today.
I have poked the officers in Discord to maybe make an announcement/ warning on the website as well but -shrug- not sure when they’ll see.
As a heads up, it looks like there might be another similar sized storm cell heading towards North Irving/ DMS area at around 7:20am.
Not necessarily a good way to check. I know they are down but the website is still holding the older stale images. Screen grab from a couple minutes ago. I tried to pull some cameras in machine shop, obviously no power.
Yeah, that’s specifically why I added the timestamps back. You should only head up if the timestamps are shown within the last 15 minutes or something. Although that doesn’t mean that the power hasn’t dropped in those last 15 minutes of course.
You can also check by trying to log into The jump server/rdp from home. If power is down it definitely will not connect
@simurghi could you post the message Gena wrote to the annoucements channel on our discord?
Power has been restored to the space, and the meters are fine, so it is now open. We will be removing the warnings.
