Thunder 63 bed leveled. Possible recurring problem

@Comter discovered a problem tonight using Thunder 63. The bed had shifted and was caught under the frame. The bed was also no longer aligned left to right, being lower on the right.

We pulled the bed out. It’s pretty rough. I put a flat board on it and walked it, reducing a few little high spots. A replacement should be ordered.

We then put it back and leveled the bed. It should be OK for now.

Problem: There is very little clearance for the honeycomb bed. I don’t remember it being so tight a fit. The binding that happened, with the bed shifting under the frame, is likely to happen again. The bed is not pinned in place, as it is with the 2 Thunder 35s.

I would think that the large Thunder bed could be modded to have registration locations, similar to the smaller 35’s.

Regarding the existing Big Thunder bed, are you asserting that the existing bed is not repairable? Is the machine (and/or brackets/supports) at risk of damage if the bed becomes caught against the machine again?

I am not sure on this. Maybe it could be smoothed and made consist with a flap sanding wheel?

I would like others to opine, and also consider how to “fix” in position the table.
