I’m hoping someone here can give me information on how to get certified to use the Thor sewing machine, and any other certifications required in Leatherworks.
Any info will be tremendously appreciated.

There’s a online class for general leatherworking permissions on Learn.

@mreynolds has been talking about some leather classes, teaching skills with a simple project (I think…).
Hi yeah! I’ve been teaching the 101 class to get folks up to speed on how to use the leather tools at dms, along with the rules etc for leatherworking at the makerspace.
I had a class last weekend, so it’ll be a few weeks until I teach it again.
Also planning a tooled fieldnotes class which will be coming very soon, though this will be a project class, and not a sign off class.
@dryad2b Thursday works for us if you’re still able to proceed! We’ll jump on the online learning this weekend regardless.

Update on Thor. It had major damage to the hook, I worked on it and it appeared to be working, the next time it was used. It began cutting through it. Again. Thor may need to go to the sewing machine hospital to get fixed.
(Sad trombone) Can you do that? Or should we get @mreynolds involved. I’m assuming that’s not Mr Sewing Machine?

But probably not by next Thursday?
If it actually needs to go to the mechanic, and not just have a replacement part then yes it could be a month or more in waiting for the mechanic to fix it.

Hello! I just joined today and I’m sad I missed this!! Will you have another class soon? Also I am unable to find the learning class for this on learning.
Very few of the machines have an on-line learning course.
Thor is currently broken, so it’s going to be a while before it’s repaired. Classes will be up later. I may need to get more involved in that…
