There seems to be more and more news items re: squatters and homeowners that are having title fraud problems and etc.:
Topics/titles on news aggregator sites or social media feeds can be a little click-baitey, FUD-ish, and sensationalized, but still…it would be a nightmare for someone if it happened to them, and it appears there is a free and easy way in Texas for property owners to help prevent any similar situation via notifications from your County.
Following (reasonably short) article is from March 2023, so possible things have changed, legislation-wise, over last 12 months but since it is Texas, probably not.
