Spray a little wd40 on it and it will make it all better right?

“Get an engine, swap it in to the family car over Christmas break” I thought. Yeah, not happening.

Marvel Mystery Oil or similar magic rust breaking penetrating oil used to get things free. Definitely want to let it soak for a couple of days to let it free up everything so rings can move freely and minimize damage to pistons and cylinder wall.

That is pretty nasty.

My guess is you’ll need to go to first oversize to get rid of all the pitting.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ll try to salvage it, it’s too cheap of an engine (gm l61) and the seller has offered me another that’s already torn down. These are sub $300 all day long so a bore and new pistons wouldn’t make sense.
Attached is what the cams looked like.

And it’s a 4cl so it wouldn’t even make a great coffee table.

I have an 30 year old aluminum V8 engine that will donate its block to make into a table some day.
