Small Laser suggestion needed

I have a friend who is wants to lase one inch squares and not spend too much money. He has a special project he is working on. Even a 4 inch bed would allow him to cut 16 squares at a time.

Can anyone recommend a small bed, fast, inexpensive, dependable laser for him? He would want it complete, not a build.

Thanks in advance.

What material?

You’re kinda asking for the moon there… fast, cheap, dependable.

My first suggestion would be to look into a K40, it’s the go to cheap eBay laser, but it typically takes a but of tinkering to really use. I wouldn’t exactly call it dependable, small, or fast.

Glowforge might be another option, I’m not a fan but I’ve heard mixed reviews, since I haven’t seen one in person I can’t judge it too much.

if he needs something fast, you can check these out locally at any rockler store:

I agree, I have an upgraded K40 and it would be good for this use.

How thick and what material?

Rubber. He is making stamps.

A K40 would be perfect for that. New ones even come with a stamp holding frame.

Depending on timing I can probably bring mine to the space for a trial run.

I’d love to see one. If you bring it up would you be up for other observers?

I’ll be out of town next week but can do that after the 9th.
