Shapeoko end mill damage

My first time using the Shapeoko after training I ended up plunging too deep with an end mill. The plastic collar was slightly deformed. Please let me know if this requires replacement of the end mill and I’ll gladly pay for it.

@jphelps @mreynolds is there a spare/backup/replacement at the space ?

We’re ok, we have a 2nd one and I think this one is still usable. Thanks for reporting though!

I found an endmill someone melted material onto though and didn’t report :scream: annoying.

Here’s what the other damaged one looks like; hard to show it hear but the black gunk on the cutting end shouldn’t be there. Might be able to melt it off.

I’d try acetone or something first and try to dissolve before applying heat. By the time the stuff on the cutter starts to melt, the blue plastic may also start to melt as the heat conducts upward.
