Sewing 101 Question 11/30

@avangalis I have a question for you class on Saturday. I know it’s open to DMS members only but I’d like to ask if my mom can attend the class? She has a BabyLock at home and she wants to know more about it before using it. Can she attend?

Or should I sign up for her and let her attend in my place? Please advise ^-^

Short answer- this class isn’t the right fit for your mom, but we will have public classes, and will look forward to having her in our sewing community!

A couple of things-

  1. The class is to certify DMS members to use our basic, mechanical machines. It’s aimed at people that have never used any sewing machine before. Your mom is likely far too advanced for this class.
  2. We have very basic mechanical babylock zest sewing machines for our beginners. They have straight stitch, zigzag, and about 5 other stitches. Babylock is a wonderful brand, and many of their machines are far more advanced than these Zests.
  3. We highly discourage individuals from signing up for a class to hold a seat for another person. The certification to use a tool is tied to the account that registers for the class. It’s a big software headache for us to add the correct person, and then manually remove the person that didn’t take the class.

Many sewing stores offer training on your own sewing machines!

Hi wisepuma23,
There are some fabulous videos online for the Babylock brand. DMS has the Zest.
So sorry your mom cannot attend in your place, as this is a DMS members only certification class. I would highly recommend videos from The Sewing Studio Fabric Superstore. The videos are great!
