I wonder if a bulletin board for wanted/unwanted posts might be useful. Anyone else have an opinion?
A Buy/Sell/Trade/Free Section would be a welcomed addition. HOWEVER! Most forums have something similar and the issues these sections bring about are kind of crazy. To avoid the obvious issues, I propose that the section is governed as follows:
Only visible to members of the forum. Outsiders, including spiders, should not be able to see this section ever. Otherwise brace fast for flight-by-night-salesteams, scammers and spam. OH, THE SPAMM!!! This also enable’s us to post our phone numbers to have people call us, with out the fear of SpamBots.
A new (forum)member must post/earn certain number or kind of badges before the section becomes visible. There should be no mention to a new comer that this section even exists. It should just appear. Trust me, there will be individuals who will join with the ulterior motive of selling something. If someone PAYS for membership, then the section ~should~ appear automatically.
Once the item is sold the Seller can change or remove the posting. Even better, if the seller could set an expiration for such an item(not to exceed a set number of days). Similar to how craigslist post expire in about 30-45 days. In the event of expiration One click renew of the sales item, for another (set num of Days) over and over.
A section with “Sticky” generic documents. Generic and Specific bills of sale, Transfer of property and release of property/liability should be easy to look up, mod and print at DMS.
Possibly(!) a section on a physical shelf within DMS, where one can place those items for first come first serve… Payment render later. Obviously not all items would be left here necessarily, but I bet a good majority could.

What if there was a category for posting buy/sell (and even trade?) discussions? Where members could post photos of gear they have, offer to trade for stuff they want, and ask to buy things other members might have?

And it would be helpful to be able to list all the topics posted to that category, so that if you are not getting email updates (digest, daily, or per post) you could still see all the activity … Like:

Yeah, sounds a lot like makertrade to me…One thing about makertrade though, how do you delete a post once the item is sold?
Also, I am pretty sure that the Makertrade posts make it outside DMS because when I listed an item exclusively on Makertrade, I got a couple calls from people outside the state…so somehow they are making it out into the mainstream.

If makertrade meets everyone’s needs, then nothing different is needed and that is great.
