Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Picture Framer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with custom framing techniques, a strong understanding of materials and preservation practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and assemble custom frames to precise specifications using hand and or power tools.
- Mount and mat artwork, prints, textiles, and other items with conservation techniques.
- Handle high-value and fragile artwork with care and expertise.
- Maintain workflow to meet production deadlines while ensuring consistent craftsmanship.
- Inspect materials for quality control.
- Operate under safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of framing equipment, materials, and conservation-grade techniques.
- High level of manual dexterity, precision, and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and ability to multitask under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed work orders and design specifications.
- Physical ability to lift framed pieces and stand for extended periods.
- Experience with oversized or complex framing projects.
- Familiarity with computerized mat cutters (e.g., Wizard).
- Background in art, design, or museum/gallery framing is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
