Would there be any interest in a ‘Science of Art’ lecture series? I am not thinking about how we perceive art, but more about the science in things like glazes, glass, clay, dyes, metal working and such.
I tend to be a science generalist and this is an area that I find interesting. Depending on the depth needed, I could do it or I could look for ‘experts’ in some areas. I would not be surprised to find some experts that are members.
Some of the factoids that I find interesting. Uranium used in glass and glazes (most of us are aware of lead in them), creation of the medieval ultramarine blue pigment from Lapis Lauzili, why metal workhardens, dying fabric and food with bugs.
This would take several months to organize.
