Ride the strandbeest

Alright I’m good to go. So cool for @Brandon_Green sharing it with everyone. Thank you sir, you are a master builder.

It’s just stored in the warehouse of 102 for now so members can access it and give it a go anytime. It’s got a sign on the handlebars saying the cost to ride is simply sharing a photo/video of your ride if you can  It’ll stick around until people lose interest or it becomes a problem.

Ok, thanks for the heads up Bill, I let him know. Could you put a sign on it that says out of service?

I’m going to guess it was this piece that broke, sending the entire force as just a shear load through the top veneer of the plywood probably wasn’t a great idea.

Can anyone confirm? I have a couple extra linkages I could start gluing + bolting together

This is the joint which broke. On the middle leg on BOTH sides.

So… can we rent this thing for an event?

Repaired with some screws

Note that the strandbeest will be dismantled and stored in the landfill by June 2nd when the project storage ticket on it expires

ACK! So is it breaking from stress? Would it have to be metal to work?

Your bike; your call, but that seems to be a waste. Any way we can keep it until another one is built so that we can have races?

Or you could give it away as a prize or reward

Or you could have people bid on it with all the proceeds going to DMS
