Retro computer case

Saw this on Indiegogo and put some money in on backing this cool one.

It’s an Apple II style PC case with a mechanical keyboard and room for an ATX motherboard and large video card.

That reminds me of this:

I actually have a 1996 Aptiva that I’d trade for the squared-off 94-95 model for specifically this purpose, j/s

As someone who used to have an IBM Aptiva as my second PC I really like this… Total sleeper computer build. I wish I still had mine. I gave it away to a friend back in high school when I upgraded from the 486 Aptiva to a Pentium 233mhz custom build back in the 90’s when that was considered high end.

I know it would be complete blasphemy but been toying over the idea of putting a raspberry pi boinc/docker cluster inside a Altair 8800 case or maybe even a NES case.

I have heard of people putting a Pi inside of an NES or C64 case, but an Altair is just too rare to do that. Plus if you do that, everybody is going to expect that the front panel works…

Speaking of the Altair, there is this… http://altairclone.com/

Mine’s been sitting in my garage for going on a couple decades now. Pentium P5 with optional heatsink and 4.2GB hard disk. It’s just the version with the curved front panel, which doesn’t look as beigetastic as the flat panel. And so it continues to sit.

My favorite part of that guy’s build is, he put an SD card reader into the defunct floppy drive, and modified a floppy disk to contain an SD card.
