Repair $500 knife with power grease

I think this is something basic enough that I might be able to do…
I just wish I had some of that power elbow grease like in the video… haha

No kidding! Wax on, wax off I guess …

As a fella with an unfortunate tendency towards such behavior, I concur.

Is this the guy that had a recent video of him making a knife out of cardboard?

For surface rust I generally think it’s wayyy easier to get a green Scotchbrite pad and some Barkeeper’s friend. That will pretty handily peel the rust off of anything. After that it might be worth removing pitting with coarse sandpaper but I rarely find myself doing so.

I use a die grinder with brillo type pads to debur and clean up steel. I think it would make short work of this.

Very impressed with how polished mirror finish was.

Use as is and add iron to your diet.

I would first remove the rust with EvapoRust which dissolves rust but not steel. Can then be finished with abrasives/polish.

From what I understand by reading the comments is that finishing by hand is more precise and is more of a mediation as well. You are putting effort and energy into something and that is one of the things appreciated and why it is so highly prized in Japan.

Count me as extraordinarily dubious of this as a general concept.
