Remember the new CA Disciplinary Model?

This is unacceptable. Please come clean up your mess asap. If it’s still there later and no one has come forward with explanation, I’ll review the tapes to see who did this.
This is a level 1.

Another request we have is please email us or post on talk before dropping off things for donation. While we very much appreciate the thought, we may not currently need or have room to store more supplies. A singer sewing machine showed up and we have no idea who donated it or whether it works. There are constantly boxes of random supplies being dropped off and left on work tables. Please just ask us or tell us so someone can come move it or sort through it and put it in a better place.

Well, and the other issue with just leaving stuff without someone asking (ie a big bag of yarn, art supplies, tools, etc) is that without any communication or note, it’s REALLY troublesome to discern if it’s a donation, something in progress but the person is off to parts unknown for hours/days, or simply forgot it. It greatly complicates and delays things.

Does it go in lost and found?
Is this a donation?
Did someone forget it?
Are they coming back?
How long has this been here?
Anyone talk to who might have left it?
Should we let it sit a bit longer and see if they’re coming back?
Spend time reviewing tapes?

Rinse and repeat

We appreciate you thinking of us, but PLEASE check with someone first. We have multiple ways and people to contact.

Or at least put a note with the abandoned baby.

But actual checking first is MUCH better

i’d be interested if signage for donation procedures could be posted up around the whole of the makerspace.

“Donations? Contact the appropriate committee on talk.dallasmakerspace.org Or the donation shelf.”
