Only in Dallas, You will NOT believe what happened… I pulled into the gas station earlier to get a drink. When I got out of the car, I noticed a cop watching a woman who was smoking while pumping gas… I saw her and thought, “what a dumb-ass”!! Anyway, I went in and got my drink. As I was checking out, I heard someone screaming… I looked outside and the woman’s arm was on FIRE! She was swinging her arm and running around acting crazy! I got outside and the cop had put her on the ground putting the fire out with their COFFEE!! Then when they got the fire out, they put HANDCUFFS on her and threw her in the police car!!:astonished: me being nosey like i am:joy:, I asked the cops what they were arresting her for. The cop looked me dead in my eyes and said … “WAVING A FIREARM!” :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Have you read these: https://www.amazon.com/Darwin-Awards-Evolution-Action-ebook/dp/B000OCXIOY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1535052883&sr=1-1&keywords=darwin+awards books series? They are good for a laugh sometimes although a little painful for some people.

Unfortunately, what you describe is not really so uncommon. (Whether your story is true or not) When I was in the USAF we had a safety brief on what to do when someone sets themselves on fire at the gas pumps. They they showed us a video of a young airman actually smoking at the pump when it ignited and he naturally pulled the filling handle from his car only making the fire much worse.

I used to be a volunteer fireman and I’ve seen first hand the dangers of petroleum (unleaded gas) vapors.
It will permanently disfigure you if not end your life when it catches fire and it will do so in seconds. It can also kill others around you. There are lots of safety features in modern gas pumps, but it doesn’t have anything to prevent dumb ass behavior.

Take a look sometime at people filling gas cans on their truck bed or using containers not suitable for containing gas. Static electricity discharge is very real and will easily ignite gas fumes.

Thanks for the funny.

Dad Jokes…

How about people storing gas for lawn equipment in a garage which is also home for the water heater…

Or propane next to the water heater? Ever seen a propane tank’s relief valve blow with a flame source nearby? The only propane fire worse is if the actual tank ruptures and I’ve seen both.

My neighbor’s teenage son was asked by his dad to clean out the fireplace ashes. He used the fireplace shovel to shovel the ashes into a paper grocery bag and put it right next to the back of the garage where dad stored the gasoline for the lawn equipment then went in to have dinner with the family. A few minutes later the entire garage was engulfed in fire and the fire eventually ruined 3/4 of the home.

That’s why I store all of my gas in my neighbor’s garage.

Ever seen a car going down the road with gas nozzle and hose hanging off the side?
Driver seemed oblivious.
Must have missed their morning caffeine and weakies.
Some gas station somewhere is grateful for a functional break off on the hose.

My uncle used to do this all the time. Let’s just say he had a drinking problem.

One might argue he had more of a driving problem…

Lol. He is probably one of the reasons they have the disconnects now. He couldn’t keep cars either because he’d roll them or wreck them.
