I have a question about painting a wall in my house. These are the they were painting around 1960 with oil-based glossy paint. Needless to say they have been scrubbed with everything known to man and all I need as to what I need to do to prepare him and if I have to use a primer or some type their medium green color most likely has a new color will be lighter in shade I haven’t decided on the color yet I’m just sick of green Walls and yellow cabinets the cabinets have the same problem they have and they will either be repeated near the same color or maybe a creamy white. I’ve been trying and it just came to me was all the wonderful knowledgeable people hear someone will likely know what I need to
The right solution is to prime the walls (and cabinets, etc) with a real primer. I use Kilz. It solves all ills.
After the Kilz is applied and allowed to dry, you can pick any color you want to go on top.
Since Kilz is an oil based primer, it will require more drying time between putting it on and then painting, which is annoying, but it’s worth it.
For your use case, I wouldn’t bother trying to use one of the paint+primer combos. Start with the real primer, and then use a good paint. You’ll be good to go.
Thank you. Most likely this is going to be a several months project. Since I cannot really do all the painting myself and since the house is so tiny it’s hard to move stuff around my basic. Now is to do a couple of walls and pay somebody to come in and do it and then on and on. Let me ask one of the imagine the pain in most of the rest of the house is also an oil-based fight considering that it was all painted around 1960 well I need on planning for the rest of the house as well. I know there’s a couple of areas that probably twenty years ago I repainted and I don’t think I used your all by Sprite actually most likely I used what I found on a poop Shelf at Home Depot I want to thank. And it seems to have held up fairly well other than I repainted a gray wall gray and I hate braids it may be good for some things but I’ve looked that one will and somersaults AG green.
