Purgatory clean out

Hello makers,
Over the past couple months the purgatory closet has gotten very full. We are going to have a clean out day on Sunday morning. If you have something that’s been put in the closet please make arrangements to get it out or meet us there at 9am Sunday. All unclaimed stuff will be going in the dumpster.

Thanks, James

Are we allowed to hang out by the dumpster :eyes:

See I was thinking the same thing

This is why items used to be discarded off site. Members would pull things out of the trash. Later the original owners would see their stuff in the hands of someone else not aware of how it got there. Takes a lot of effort to go off site with crap though. When it causes a kerfuffle you can think back to this post as to why it’s a bad idea.

The “rule of thumb” once was: we can’t monitor the dumpster, but if we see the same thing we just threw away back inside the building, it gets tossed again". Meaning if you dumpster dive, it can NOT come back in here.

During my tenure as Logistics Chair I easily threw out 4 figures worth of materials during offsite cleanouts - possibly 5 figures cumulative value over time.

Thus, consider the ill feelings that could arise if you’re recovering others’ materials from the dumpster.

This is wise, however I’m not sure that it’s encoded anywhere as a rule.

“Be excellent” - if someone causes butthurt or hurt feelers they aren’t being excellent.

Ok, there are a couple items in purgatory that I really would prefer the owners pick up rather than get thrown out.

  1. A whole bunch of molds and supplies from whomever was doing the vacuum former project.
  2. A whole bunch of wood and power tools from whomever left it on a table in the flex area.
  3. A whole bunch of sheet metal that was stashed behind the metal shop tools over by the old vector corner.
  4. A desk table someone built

There is other stuff as well, but these a the big ones.

If you own these or know who does please contact logistics to make arrangements to get them.

It’s the same guy that you dealt with on this…

I think his name is Ryan. I’m horrible with names and can’t remember. He told me he’s never on Talk. He said he contacted you after that 1st incident, so you should have his contact info.

Yup, thats the one.

Hi, I am not sure where is the purgatory closet and how do you know what’s in it? I did leave some stuff like years ago but I am fairly certain that would be long gone by now

It’s the little room to the right when you are entering the workshop area from the hall between interactive and lecture hall.

Your stuff may still be there, we haven’t had a lot of stuff go there during our covid restrictions. Just look through the window and check

the room with trim all over it?

That’s the one

From BoD Mtng some while back -
“Maybe you need to develop your ‘DMS Skin’”
As in suck it up, deal with it, move on.
Statement probably wasn’t recorded in the minutes.
Being excellent, not causing butthurt, etc. damn near impossible w/ some folks.
