I can t find the thread on this but I had an idea
We could get with one of the womens shelters or one
of the ones that help homeless moms get into
an apartment and to get jobs, There are so many things
that we could do to help, They are always needing things
to furnish the apartments, and most of it is thrift store or
donated cast offs, What about things like a cute headboard
for children, a simple child size desk, ???
Cereal bowls or a even a coffee mug. A skirt or even a fun top
would be great, a necklace to wear to an interview,
Something special can help a person s self esteem so much
A family story from the Depression, my great uncle had been
a car salesman, then the crash happened and he was out of work
He was looking since he had a wife and family, One day he walked
by the clothing store where he had shopped and he knew the owner
real well, The owner called him for a cup of coffee and asked him what was
wrong that he looked depressed, Newt told him that he couldn t find a job.
The guy said that he wasnt having muc\ch business so he counldn t help
with a job but that he could help him out, He gave him a new suit and a
couple of shirts and some shoes and socks and even a hat, Newt told him
that he could pay for them but the gy said that was ok, he could pay him
someday and that he got pleasure from seeing a man well turned out
for a change, Newt left there with his head high and he had a job within
a couple of weeks, He needed the boost in self esteem
We coudl do the same for folks and have fun doing it
( and those partial cans of paint could be useful!)
