Hey all,
We have had some discussions about replacing the current contractor table saw with a larger cabinet maker type table saw in plastics. This weekends Machine Shop meeting, we will formally vote on it.
The intent is to make the table saw sit under one of the work benches. @rlisbona has discussed this with myself & a few others in the committee.
Also the intent is to make it safer to rip plastic sheet goods to suitable sizes.
I’d say maybe a unisaw or similar would likely be suitable. Something like a sawstop would not be suitable do to the static created in the cutting of plastics.
This is the general idea.
Tablesaw would be stationary, table would roll out of the way to use the saw. Bottom of the table would be about an inch taller than the saw top. I got two solid core formica skinned doors, shorter one will replace the tabletop with the two drill presses.
Here is the new table saw, I will saw new as in new to us. It appears from what we can tell this saw was made in the mid to late 40’s. Starting in April of 1950, the serial number nomenclature was more clear, starting with the year of production. We do need to do some finer adjustments to it, like the fence, wheels & right side table adjusted. The power cord will reach & plug into the existing vacuum former plug.
This saw appears to be the 1180B,
I happen to find a picture of this saw (serial number is the same) pre-restore. Well looks like the serial numbers are not unique. Many other saws with the same serial number… all appear to be made in 1946
