Pneumatic Tools in Automotive

Hey folks, what is the state of Pneumatic tools in Auto? I need to replace a timing belt and will need at least a decent (preferably 3/4”) impact wrench and a pneumatic ratchet.

Do we have these or should I bring my own?

The last time I used them they were in working order, but it’s been a couple of months so my suggestion would be to bring your own on the off chance that the ones in auto shop are not to your liking.

We have an Ingersol Rand 1/2 air impact and ratchet. We also have the Milwaukee battery impact and ratchet, which are roughly equivalent, personal preference really.

The 1/2s are powerful enough these days that I’m not sure you’d need a 3/4 for anything on a regular car.

Sometimes those factory harmonic balancer bolts are a b!tch but I’ve already done a timing belt on this car so a half inch should whiz it right out.

Thanks!
