Good morning!
I am interested in gaining experience with the plastic lab in the machine shop, there don’t seem to be any classes listed. What’s the best way to get permission to use this equipment?
I am a DMS member and would, if possible, like to work on something with a guest.

Your guest may work with you, but cannot use any of the tools.
There is no shop-wide training for plastics; it depends on which tools you need.
We try to be practical. Tools that have something comparable in Woodshop can be used if you have had the relevant Woodshop training (saws, etc.)
The three plastics-specific machines have machine-specific training that is periodically offered. (Vacuum former, Shapeoko XXL, Nomad) You have to keep your eyes on the calendar because those fill quickly. Right now there is a vacuum former class on the calendar on June 20.
