I have often wondered about these DIY double sided prototype boards, they are every where on ebay and amazon
I have used them in many projects they are cheep and solder nicely, however as I was populating one with my circuit I wondered why and what are them unused unattached oval pad on the short edges of the boards for? I see no traces leading to them and cant seam to trace them any where else on the board so there just unused as I can tell … searched for this a few times, only info i could find was basically its a not recommended to reuse unused pads on a pcb.
I was wanting to add my own connections to the 2x8 cm board by bridging over to the first row of holes and then 3d print a female receptacle, allowing me to plug the board into it. kinda like a daughter board i guess !
has any one done/tried this? is this what there for? and what are your thoughts about doing it this way?
